The Great Give is returning on May 1-2! This 36-hr, online, community-wide giving event was created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to raise visibility and resources for nonprofits serving Greater New Haven. Last year, thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors, the efforts of participating organizations, and sponsorships, this event raised an impressive $3.43 million for over 500 local nonprofits.

A message from our President:

The CT Gay Men’s Chorus is a unique organization which has been a beacon in our community for almost 40 years. Combining a powerful and accomplished mix of high-caliber performance, community activism, empowerment, and inclusiveness, the chorus has become a diverse paragon of entertainment and social connection in the state. It has gained legendary status among Connecticut’s LGBT organizations.

Since I joined the chorus 13 years ago, the group has experienced some very great, yet some very tough times. The pandemic was only one of several setbacks we’ve experienced. Yet through it all, I’m thrilled that it’s a group which has never wavered in its desire to entertain and enlighten at the same time. It looks to bridge the gap between the gay community and the community at large, not only through song, but also through the spreading of goodwill when and wherever possible. It’s been such an enriching experience for me.

Since the challenge of the pandemic, we’ve been lucky to pick up the pieces and move on with our mission. We’ve resumed our concerts successfully, and we’ve been conducting our iconic Bingomania fundraisers. We still do, however, need funds to cover the rent for our rehearsal and performance spaces, for the hall for our Bingomania, for our music, costumes, props, etc. We very much could use your assistance.

I'm asking you please, if you have ever been moved by the music of The Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus, or even if you haven’t, to consider making a donation to the group through this wonderful fundraising event, the Great Give 2024.

Early giving opens at 8 am on Friday, April 26, and all giving closes at 8 am on May 6. But if you can plan it, we have the opportunity for extra matching funds if you donate from Wednesday May 1 at 8am to Thursday May 2 at 8pm. Your donation will help us keep doing what we love for you, singing, and working to remain an important contributor to our community. Thank you so much for your kind consideration! However you may, please do help us continue to strive to change hearts and minds!

In gratitude,
Ken Sawicki

Founded in 1986,
the Connecticut Gay Men’s Chorus was the first organization of its kind in Connecticut and is proud to be a part of LGBT history.

The chorus continues to inspire other arts-based community organizations around New England. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Greg McMahan, the CTGMC is proud to maintain its high level of performance standards while maintaining its signature blend of humor and personality.

The CTGMC performs at, as well as supports, an ever-increasing number of community outreach organizations to raise funds and awareness of a variety of social and LGBT programs.

We aim to portray the very best of the gay community in an authentic way. And, to further our mission of building bridges between the gay community and the community at large, we now welcome men of all orientations to join us in song and fellowship.

Thanks to our successful monthly fundraiser Bingomania and our family of donors and sponsors, we are not only committed to keeping our ticket prices affordable, but we are able to set aside 10% of our tickets to offer to LGBT youth, AIDS outreach, and other social outreach programs at no cost.
